after the presentations-feedback from mr.case

Today the rest of the class presentated, after they were finished mr.case gave us feedback on how to improve next time like on tip he told us was to always start with a blank presentation and that makes us and the presentation seem very professional.he said some other stuff to and i learned alot from the presntations and how to improve.

presntation day

today i presented the brand i was doing which was adidas,i was pretty nervous because i was presentating first and i really didnt know how to present but at the end i think i did pretty okay.

PROJECT PROGRESS

today in class i started my computer power point mini project, i have found some greta pictures now all i have to do is put that into slides and make it creative.also i hav to make notes on what i should say in my presentation but besides that i am almost done.
p.s. i have to send it to myself so i could access it at home.

note

Itotally forgot but for homework i have to practice all the right type in order to get a good mark at the end of the year.

test tommorow

test tommorow on binary and computer components on fridayoctober 29,2006
note:the slides for the powerpoint project is due friday too.
bth homewrk-powerpoint,blogs and study for test.

sporty spice-article that i searched for

my research was on the sporty spice which is like fashion for sporty gals. in th article is said intersting stuff like if you are sporty you just put a little bit of little lip gloss.there wasnt an exact url for the article but if you go to ebsco and type in sporty spice you will find th article

Death by powerpoint summary

URL FOR THE ARTICE:http://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&db=voh&AN=20607562&site=src-live
u can also go to the school website www.tdsb.on.ca/libraries/librarysec.asp?schoolno=3345
the u can go to ebsco reasearch and search the article that you are looking for and find it.
SUMMARY:
this article is about how ta make ur powerpoint better, theres alot of interstind and helpful tips.ok here's my summary Powerpoint presentations these days are boring and typical and theres nothing new about them, every presentation has the same pattern and format.
Merely making notes and reading articles and bookreading instead of presenting. We use our presentation slides as scripts and read content off it. The people can as well read it themselves, that defeats the purpose of us presenting it.
One has to organize his presentation according to time. Every slide should be given a particular amount of time which should be between 30-60 seconds with few exceptions or differences.
The purpose of slides is to support the idea we are trying to convey, we are not doing the same for the slides since we are the ones who present. Its the way we present it that matters.we as presnters are the most important part of the presentation and we have the key role of how the presentation is presented.
The question and answer session is an important and crutial part of the presentation. A good strategy would be have friends in the audience asking you key questions that you have already prepared to impress the audience and convince them on the fact that we have sufficient knowledge on the topic.

project progress

yes i am finally done that hardest computer project i have ever gotten.it was challenging for me because i wasnt familliar with that different components of a computer. now mr.case has told us to find an on article on power point called death by powerpoint and we have to read it and write a summary about it also we have to find an article on something we like and write a summary about that too.

computer class today

mr case assigned as an assignment to find 3 computers that suite the needs of three people. he also showed us the futere shop website and showed us different computers and how to choose which suits the needs of different people.we have 2
Computer Component Projectfor this project you will assume the role of a computer consultant who is paid to recommend computers for people to purchase. You will have three customers. Each customer will have certain requirements. You need to choose computers based on the requirements that each customer gives you.You will select three systems (low medium and high end) for each person. You will need to explain why you chose each system and why they are good for the customer. YOU WILL BE MARKED ON HOW WELL YOU EXPLAIN THE BENEFITS OF EACH COMPONENT! Your final project will be in the form of a printed package. Presentation will weigh hevily on your mark. Plagiarism will result in a zero with no chance of rewrite. Make sure you list the webpage for each system you chose. The clients:Client One: A Student entering high school wants a computer for playing games and doing homework. They are interested in music. They don't have a lot of money.Client Two: A Teacher who wants a computer for email and marking student work. They don't want to spend any more than they have to.Client Three: An artist wants a computer for creating video and photographs. they also want to be able to play the latest games and use the internet for VOIP. Due 13 October.

computers

IDE cable whivh connects to your mother board. Ide stands for integrated device.Pentium processors are mounted vertically.A website to get information on components from http://www.kids-online.net/learn/c_n_l.html

optical,cd,harddrive....

memory is open right there, storage is something that is stored in the computer.Storage is still there even when the computer is turned off.optical is seeable stuff. optical storage uses light like laser.cd-rom-label on front, shiny reflection rainbow on back peice of plastic.theres a rainbow pattern because the light hits the cd and it refracts.one cd holds one mega bite of information.i megabite is 8 bits.a cd has 5 billion little pits, lacopits inside a cd rom.inside a cd-rom:printed circuit card, the tray where the volume switch is, little actuator that slides back and forth, laser in the middle, spindel that spins around when cd is in motion.if u damage the back of the cd the binary code can not be read. storage on a cd is saved by pits that bounce back and forth (saved in binary).the back of the circuit board is where the brain is located.
floppy disk
did you know why its called that because the inside is floppy.floppy disk is storage.1 and a half maga bites.floppy disk uses magnetic electricity.magnetic field or electrical field will mess up the floppy.hard disks have platters. the actuator arm is what reads the informatin on the floppy disk.

Mother board,cpu,pci........................................

RAM ( random access memory)this memory is the once we use all the time, when ever we are required to do work, or run a program, its like a temporary memory, it doesnt store information but only temporarily keeps it to keep programs run.before RAM s used to be big and less efficient, as in the largest RAM available available was 650 kbs, and it was pridicted by BILL GATES that humans would never need more, but as time passed, now we even see RAM s in GB s quiet commonly. RAM s , to be simple are the speed of a computer, determine how fast a computer can process information, the faster the RAM the better the speed.HARD DRIVE is permenant memory, it has nothing to do with RAM, but it makes difference. When you turn off a computer all the information on the RAM is lost, which is where you can use your harddrive . You can save all your information on the Hard Drive, which has enough memory to save loads of programs and other stuff. It is a megnatic disc which stores information. Its a permanent memory storage device and is usually found in capacities 2-500 gbs for PC s .BIOS (basic input output device) The BIOS tells a computer what to do from when its turned off to when its turned on, and can be seen on a motherboard. It tells the computer , things like opening certain programs.Motherborard is not a storage device, but its the main part of a computer where the memory and other things are located, if u didnt have a mother board wouldnt work because every other plug or connection is connected to the mother board.Mother board tells everyone else what to do in a computer. Silicon Chips all computer hardware, mainly the components are made up of silicon because they are conductors and have other special features that a computer needs. Flash Memory is a type of memorythat is used for portable devices like GPS s and comes from 64mb to 5 gb. whats good about it is that it takes up the least space and the information on it is permanent just like a hard drive. Also pci stands for preferal computer intarface but you dont really need to know that.

binary homework

For homework Mr.case told us to convert the age of any parent of ours into binary. To convert the age of my mom into binary 52.52 in binary is 110100.

INPUT,OUTPUT AND BINARY

Computer monitor is and output, keyboard is an an input because you put information into the computer and then it gives output and speakers are output.A common error is that people think that a usb key and a cd are input but they are storage.Microphone and mouse are input. A computer is any thing that we put input into and then it processes and gives us output.Electricity has two states on and off.o=off 1=on. Electricity is either on or off it can never be partially on.We also learned the binary system,in binary the only numbers are o and 1.Every o and 1 is a bit of information.8 peices of information is called a bite.Everything the computer does is in binary. There are 255 numbers shown in 8 bites. He also showed us two types of olden day computers which people still use, first one was the board calculator and the second was the was the wheel computer that you could calculate things like speed and distance.

TODAY IN CLASS

Today in class 3 more groups presented their project and them my group was last to go, we presented but again just like last class we couldnt access the project on power point and then at the end we found it and the sound didnt work on the powerpoint but besides that the presntation went well.

Component project notes

These are the notes that were in my computer component project:-A sound card is a card that produces sound through the internal and external speakers.-OR, A sound card is what the speakers are plugged into.-There are many types of sound cards but, they basically work the same way.- Sound cards have two basic functions: They record and play back digital sound, turning your computer into an electronic tape player.-Some can also play back MIDI files, generating their own music in simulations of multiple instruments. It kind of works like a piano.-MIDI stands for =The Musical Instrument Digital Interface-A soundcard is used to play back digital recordings and arrange recordings.A sound card changes the digital data, it gets into analog data that you can use with speakers.-The Creative Ensoniq Audio PCI sound card offers the best reliability and lowest CPU usage in its class.Did you know:-sound cards were invented in 1980-89 in California.

Today in class

Today in class,I Watched some people present their component projects. My group was ready but we just couldn't access so Mr.Case said that we could go next class.I learned about what a cd is,a mouse and what graphic cards are, the presntions were interesting.

Today in class

Today in class we learned about what hardware and software and what the difference is between them. hardware is the parts of the computer that you see and touch, basically its the parts that you can take apart from the outside.softaware is the programming in side the computer all the numbers and codes etc..... After he told us that he, told us about our new project on the components of a computer and told us when it would be due. Also he showed us some new websites like howstuffworks.com,dictionary.com
