Today in class Mr.Case showed us another business site where it talks about choosing a business name and rules and regulations and how you have to register it.My business is summer time tutoring for grades 1-8 in english and math and bonus reading plus a free snack.The name of my company is now improvement and i have to go to that website and print it put so that its not copied.My budget is about $200.The url is not accesible because i have to ask Mr.Case but i'll get back to you.

Obeying the law

Mr.Case sorry this is late but i couldn't cause right after school i went to my relatives place cause theres this ritual thingy and then i came back at 1 in the morning and in class i didn't finish it cause there was no time, so here it is now.

Registering your business name

-Register your business before you start the business

-$60 registration fee and $80 if your registering by email
-Registration is valid for 5 years and expires after 5 years
-To change your registration name you have to give registration taxes
-Your required to pay in your business an income tax to both federal and provincial governments
-6% GST(goods and services tax) is charged for almost everything in Ontario.
Taxes

Retail Sales Tax(RST), also goes by PST. Charged in most cases in Ontario, if the good that is sold is more than $4. 8% in Ontario.
If you sell RST chargeable goods you have to submit the money made by this tax to Ministry of Finance, you must registrate within the ministry of finance to get licences and tax numbers.

Today in class we learned and reviewed about flash mx. This program has stuff like keys that you can use for creating animations and stuff. I learned how to make a tween out of animation that I created. After teaching us the lesson, Mr. Case told us to make our own little flash animation and I did. Tomorrow I am going to record the pod casts that are due and on Wednesday we are going to start our summative, which is about starting your own business.

Today in class i was away. (No Mr.Case i wasn't skipping your awesome class) Anyways so we worked on our editor publishing projects and now i am behind.It's okay i'll live.I must be getting a good mark for the wiki right Mr.Case?.Ok that's it for now.

Today in class i made my spreadsheet then after that Mr.Case taught us a new program called microsoft publisher and he also assigned us a mini presentation on advertising one of the subjects as a newsletter for grade eights.

Today in class i first did my web design test then we had to choose 5 stocks and buy them, but althogether we have 100 000 to spend on all 5 companies in the toronto stock exchange. After that we have to make a spread sheet on all five and send it to Mr.Case's folder.I'll have to record our podcasts tommorow after school.

Today is Monday April 16,2006 and i am back after a week of abscence. During my days away we presented our meadevever web pages and the pictures of teachers we made on photoshop. I'll have to present them both in the next few classes beacuse Mr.Case is teaching a class today.

Today in class, I finished the web page we were suppose to make as an assignment on macromedia dream weaver and dropped it in the drop off folder under Mr. Case’s name. Hopefully I will get a good mark on this assignment and improve my Btt mark for term. Yes Mr. Case I’m going to go back to getting the highest mark in our class or at least one of the top marks. That’s about it for now. I have started to work on our pod casts they are due in about a week or two.

Today in class we learned about macromedia, which is a program, used for making web pages or you could say websites. This program uses html tools for making the WebPages. The program itself is about a couple hundred bucks but on the Internet you could get free downloadable ones. Here’s the catch the difference between the one you buy and the free one, the free one comes with advertising and commercials. Macromedia is a helpful tool program for creating website/pages because you don’t have to know the html codes, you just click on them and it will come so it’s easier for you to create your masterpiece instead of trying to remember the codes.

Today in class we did some review for the test and tommorow is our powerpoint test.Here are somethings we reviewed like for example the marquee tool,crop tool,blur tool,impressionist brush tool,blur tool,sharpen tool,hexadecimal and how for printinng your dpi should be 300 and for just internet it could 72 dpi.That's about it oh and we worked on our wiki's a little.

Photoshop has shadows that could be removed or improved by shadow/highlight correction and quickly improve the contrast of over- or underexposed areas of an image, while maintaining the overall balance of the photo.Theres also the red-eye tool that which lets you correct red eyes if they are in your image.The crop tool is one of the most useful beacause you could cut out people from the pictures and it lets you cut them out anyway you want.

Powerpoint has one special set of features and those are the features under filters, there is blur which is used to make a picture more blurry so an example of where you might use blur is to make a cloud foggy and the might make your image more realistic.There is also the background styles so if you wanted to trick Mr.Case and make fake bricks you could just easily use the background styles.

Today in class I learned that we can change/edit a picture and make it look better or brighter/darker according to your needs by simply changing the colour concentration. We can reduce red blue and green pixels and change the mood of the picture.I also learned about PIXILIZATION ( Pix=picture el =elemant)of how increasing pixels or decreasing them can impact the size and quality of a picture. And how saving them in different formats can result in information loss.And how pixels can impact the hard copy of an image. Now I will try and edit some pictures so they can look better. Editing the picture, croping them, so by following the rules of picture composition can really have a great impact.

Photoshop

Today in class Mr.case showed us some more tools on photoshop like transform,crop,enhance,and the rotate tool and then afterwards we had to fix this picture that was in the pickup folder.Thats about it.Essay is due on wednesday febuary 14,2007.

Today in class

Today in class we had to work on correcting two photos from the pickup folder then we had to choose two photos of our own and correct them using photoshop.Note:Wednedsay class needs to bring in cameras.Mr.Case didnt teach a lesson so i dont have anything to write about i am just writing because its daily homework on days 1 and 3.Oh wait today is day 4 my bad.

Today we learned about photoshop elements.Apixel is the smallest element in a picture,every pixel has a hexadecimal number.Dpi stands for dots per inch.For your photo to come out good then you need a 300 dpi if your using print and 72 dpi if your using it for a computer.When you compress/jpac it will loose some of the duplicate information.Lassey compresses and looses some information and lossless keeps the picture the same.Then afterwards we learned about picture enhacement by using the levels tool on photoshop, and then we had to get an image and try to enhance or experiment with it using photoshop tools we learned.Note to me essay is due next week with the research folder.

Today in class we learned about photoshop and its features like one that i liked was the cropbutton.We also learned about rules of composition,one important rule was of the rule of thirds, theres also the rule of simplicity, framing,texture,leading lines/diagonal lines,and the last one that i learned about was colour composition.Also the other features that i liked were like blur tool one and then after he went after the tools and important he told us to like no all the main tools in the tool bar.The well on the top menu bar was the most interesting thing i learned.After that told us that we needed to bring in cameras to take a couple of pictures that we can use photoshop on for digital imaging.That's all we learned about today.

febuary2,2007-Hexadecimal number system

Hexadecimal number system is the number system with the numbers being 1-9 on one side of a chart then after 9 for 10 you say a then for 11 you say b and so on until u reach 15 which would be f. The number system can start from 00-ff. (ff being the highest) if you wanted to go even higher you would have to start under section in the chart to the left. There are 255 shades of each color that you can achieve in PowerPoint, Photoshop or any screen for example a TV Screen or a computer monitor screen.

Febuary1,2007- additive and subtractive colours

Today we learned about additive and subtractive colors. Also the theory of how if you combine all the colors.Mr.Case basically used Photoshop colors to make a visual diagram of this theory. Tommorow we will be learning about hexadecimal number for the color system.

Our new essay assignment

Today in class Mr. Case gave us a new assignment and took up our old excel tests. Our essay is to write two pages, on computer ethics, about an issue like dvd piracy, computer hacking, viruses etc. We have to write if we are for or against that topic and we have to prove it by using evidence from recent articles and headlines, magazines and stuff. We also have to fill out a research folder and its due in two weeks.

Today in class we learned about dvd piracy and the laws concerning this and how the isp's and stuff are trying to trackdown people who illegally download music from the interenet.Also we learned about music industries and how they are trying to put devices like no copying of cd's.(sopy protected)Theres alot to think about when you download or buy illegally from places like pacific mall.

Today in excel we had our test on excel i found it kind of confusing but i think i got a mark of over 70% or 80%. The questions were all about farmulas and stuff, thats about it.

Today in class Mr.Case thought us about skype and how you can use the internet to make long distance phone calls to anywhere for a low charge.Then afterwards he asked us to go to career cruising and find a career job then make a budget for that by putting in the wage,net pay and balance and stuff. pretty fun class.

Today Mr.case thaught us the formula for correctly finding an unknown average if we wanted to get our goal average, it was real confusing at first but then we figured it out as a class.Then we finished our charts and thats about it, above i have written the formula so i can remember for upcoming tests or when i need to use it.

TODAY- JANUARY 10 2007

Today was a bad day we got our tests back and Mr.Case took up the questions.Then after he asked us to make a chart on excel just for fun so we can learn, i made mine on name brands.

January 8-Review on ms excel

We reviewed excel today.Each of the little boxes are called cells.Three types of information you can put in a cell a text string, a formula and a value. Our next assignment is to make a chart for our current marks with these contents: current mark for each course, current average, your goal average, goal for each course and the required mark you need in your other terms to get your goal.

Excel on MS

Today in class we learned how to properly use excel and the benifits and uses of excel.For example you can use excel to calcualte marks and you dont have to buy any other software.Also you can use excel as a document too and add different features like alinements etc.After the holidays we will get to calculate our yearly averages n stuff.So for now adios,no blog writing for two weeks not that i dont like to write in my blog.(cough cough)Have a great holiday and a merry christmas.Did i mention in computer class i saw Mr.Case's cute son,so adorable.

Today was the test.Cant believe that i messed up on the questions, but i will still get good marks.

Macro on microsoft word

Macro is basically a sequence of steps that you tell the computer and it records it.To do macro you just go to tools on the top menu bar and click on it then you scroll down to macro and click on it and start recording.Usually macro is not that often used because sometimes you could mess up with all its techniqalities and mess your whole document or computer up.That's about it.

Mail merge

Today in class Mr.Case reviewed mail merge with us and to do mail merge on your document you click on the top menu bar on tools then scroll down to mail merge and from then you follow thesse three steps first you click on create under document and then you active the windows then you create a data source.Then you close the mail merge helper and using the fields bar at the top that you have activated you write your mail and then you go back and click on mail merge and it merges your documents.That's all there is to mail merging..atleat i think so.

no class today for me

Today i heard that we learned about mail merge which i'll have to catch up on next class,However i didnt miss anything else but we do have an upcoming test next week.I also have to get further on with the publishing book.We are, i think about half way through the editing then we start to do the good copy and then publish the book.So that's about it for now.

I am editor

It's the end of class and yes i got voted as editor but with that comes alot of responsibility like revising and editing people's work and making sure they are correct, they aren't palagerising and stuff like that.Me and james are the editors from our class and ha eun and madeeha but we still have to work together to get the book published,so far i have edited all the tutorials i received from my class and put them in order and checked off people's names eho did them.

Today in class Mr.Case started talking about the book we are going to publish and how we have to write tutorials and give it to the editors.He talked about the formatting and then after he told us to work on our turorials and print them out and give them to the editors.By the end of class today we are going to vote on two editors for the book publishing.I want to be editor so i can get a high mark and i want the responsibility to show how good i can be and thats about it and i look forward to being editor if i get voted which i think i will.That's about it for now.

Hoversnap

Today Mr.Case taught us about hoversnap, this program where you can copy screens and different parts.Then he said that we had to finsh our tutorials.There are interesting features like you can crop an image,customize it and other lots of cool stuff.Hoversnap is accessed through hoverdesk.net then there you can download hoversnap.

Today in class we talked about publishing a book about microsoft word,but first we have to find some tutorials on microsoft word and then read because tommorow we are going to start writing our own tutorials on one of the features of microsoft word.Mr.Case also said that he needs an editor for the class book, i want to be editor and work really hard to make a great book. A lousy tutorial is one that people try to sell, a good one is one that people want to read and buy.So now i am going to summarize so i dont forget later on what i have to do ok i have to do two podcasts,i tutorial on m.s. and be the editor and possibley write more tutorials.

i learned how to make my ms document interactive

-By using the button link and book mark, you can make your documents interactive,that way teachers get impressed by that.Also he went over other things like page layouts,margins,columns,etc......after that he told us to go and explore in microsoft word.Oh and i forgot at the beginning of the class we each had to present something new we found out about microsoft word.I presented mine on word count.Thats all we had to do for now, ok i am going to go now.....yeah its weekend.

2 new podcast assignments

In class today Mr.Case told us more about what we have to do,one podcast has to be about btt related topics and the other one can be random.Me and my partner tatiana are going to do the random one about fashion and the btt one about powerpoint presentations do's and don'ts and how to present.He also showed us the program audiocity and how we can record our podcasts.I hope that i get a good mark and our podcasts are the best one.So far he hasn't given us a due date, probably in like two weeks until everyone else presents.He also showed us the different parts of the audiocity program like how to edit your recordings by like changing the tone or fading out the sound or adding background music etc....

Something wrong with my blogger

Everytime i post a blog it skips lines on me and messes up the view its a technical problem,tried to fix it but it doesnt work so it has nothing to do with me so you technically can't deduct marks from my blog.Just letting you know.Bye

10 things i didnt know about microsoft word

While i was exploring microsoft words here are some things i didnt know:
1.This is going to sound really stupid of me but i did not know there was a word count button in microsoft words,I use to just can't one by one. click the wrod count button at the top of the page.
2.I didnt know how to insert font effects. click insert then click font effects.
3.I didnt know how to align text when like click on the align arrow and drag it.
4.I didnt know how to add symbols click insert symbols in the menu bar.
5.I didnt know how to import pictures from the interenet using certain buttons click save as and then open it up in microsoft word.
6.I didnt know how to insert autoshapes, go to microsoft word and insert the auto shapes using the sutoshapes button.
7.i didnt know how to add templates, click template on the menu.
8.I didnt know how to add a read only passwords or a password.
9.I didn't know how to add an external font to the list of default fonts.
10.I didnt how to merge documents. i would click merge documents in the menu.
I didnt know alot more but you only asked for ten, yes i need to learn but i'm a fast learner. Thats all for now.............

Microsoft Word

today in class the rest of the podcast presentations were presented and then Mr.case thought us about microsoft word.Jargan is the language of computers which is difficult for people to say.He also showed us that when you dont want the shrowns (arrows)in the menus you can customize and i learned alot.After that he told us to go and explore the menus in microsoft word and write ten things we didnt know or we just learned by exploring.

Podcast presentations today!!

Today in class we were presenting our podcasts that we chose.I presented mine on our russel peters and talked about what was on the podcast.There were technical difficulties though when we were uploading our podcasts to present to the class,i dont exactly know but it had something to do with someone(james) messing up the computer and so Mr.Case just told us to send him the links of our podcasts.After that there was no time left so the rest of the students have to present next class.After class he gave us our first term mark.I was very satisfied with my mark because It's an 88% but still i'm gonna try to work even harder in second term to improve that.Overall today was a really good class.

Today in class Mr.Case(the greatest teacher ever) gave us some more time to work on our podcasts.I was already done so i just did some net surfing and looked up and listened to other podcasts.It was a really enjoyable and interesting class today.I am writing this because writing in our blogs is a daily homework from now on even if we have nothing to write about.Oh i have a question what does find podcasts have anything to do with business...i was just wondering.

today in class

Mr.case told us too look up podcast, when i searched i found that it is a online directory for different things like entertainment, music, arts, nature. here's the url for podcast website: http://www.podcast.net/ on podcast you can also add your own podcasts.Basically on podcast you can search anything. history: The concept of podcasting was suggested as early as 2000 and its technical components were available by 2001.The editors of the New Oxford American Dictionary declared "podcasting" the 2005 word of the year, defining the term as "a digital recording of a radio broadcast or similar program, made available on the Internet for downloading to a personal audio player.That is all i have researched on podcast but i will write more information on my next blog.

powerpoint test monday

Today in class mr.case told us that we have a test on monday on powerpoint,he said to study hard and today we are marking other peoples power points so yes thats about it.

Today in class

Today in class, Mr.case gave us the period to work on our two mini power point projects, i already had finished my hot list.In class today i put some finshing touches on my interactive power point and i am done both my hot list and interactive power point.Mr.case also said that on days one and four we have to right on our blogs.

I have finished making my hotlist now all i have to do is finish my interactive powerpoint which is almost done then i will be done.That's about it for now.

Types of presentations

Today we laerned about 3 types of presentations
- A general power point presentation which needs a presentor and is usually used for presenations
- A presenattion which keeps going on its own and doesn't need a presenter, one usually used for messages at certain facilities
- Interactive presentation, which has hyer links and action button and can be navigated through by any user and does'nt need a presenator either, rarely used but effective

two new assignments

Ok today in class mr.case told us two new assignments as fast as we could.the first one is a hot list with all our favourite websites that we visit and the second one is the interactive powerpoint with interactive buttons.i am going to work on the interactive powerpoint.

TODAY IN CLASS

Today in class mr.case showed us custtom animation and wat to use on our presentations.he told us things we shouldnt use some of the crappy sounds and that it would make our presentations very childish and unprofessional.After that he talked about colour contrast on our presentations and how it should look appealing and be readable etc.... After he told us that he tols us to go and fix our presentation according to what he said you should have on your presentation,i had only two things to fix on mine they were the template and the custom animation and that i fixed so thats about it,other than this we didnt start anything else.

Today the rest of the class presentated, after they were finished mr.case gave us feedback on how to improve next time like on tip he told us was to always start with a blank presentation and that makes us and the presentation seem very professional.he said some other stuff to and i learned alot from the presntations and how to improve.

presntation day

today i presented the brand i was doing which was adidas,i was pretty nervous because i was presentating first and i really didnt know how to present but at the end i think i did pretty okay.

im working on a brand,the brand im presenting is adidas.i have done the 4 slides but i have to add custom animation and add a little.yes so far its going pretty well and im going to present on monday.

PROJECT PROGRESS

today in class i started my computer power point mini project, i have found some greta pictures now all i have to do is put that into slides and make it creative.also i hav to make notes on what i should say in my presentation but besides that i am almost done.
p.s. i have to send it to myself so i could access it at home.

Itotally forgot but for homework i have to practice all the right type in order to get a good mark at the end of the year.
